We are having a productful morning. Ellie sat up this morning on the end of her bed, hung her legs off and got support from the nurse and dad. Then she sat up in bed and colored with cousin Ethan. She was showered with love from family and friends this morning also. It was great to see her smile so much at all her family. We are so thankful to see her smile again.
Dr. Menezes came in this morning and was very pleased to see her progress. He asked her if she wanted a popcicle and she nodded yes. Then he asked her if she wanted grape, orange or cherry and she wispered orange. We were happy to hear her talk a little. She said hi to dad this morning also. It will take some time until she can talk better but she's started.
Doctor said her type of tumor is malignant but he got it all out so he will talk with oncology and see what they suggest. This type of tumor is rare in children so they are doing a lot of research reading other people's experiences with it to learn more. Dr. Menezes wants to give her brain and head three months of healing before we do any radiation if that is a treatment we have to do. He isn't quite sure we need to do that. He said radiation has affects and especially on young growing brains they want to prolong having to do it as long as possible. So it is still up in the air. We just hope the doctors can find enough information that they can make the best educated decisions possible.
We will try to get Ellie up in a chair this afternoon and on her feet tomorrow. She is getting her art line out, which is another tube coming out so we are excited about that. They are increasing her feeds again slowly to full feeds so she'll be getting all the nutrients to get strong again. We praise God for this wonderful recovery we've had and look forward to moving to the Peds floor sometime this weekend maybe. Tuesday they will do a swallow study on her to evaluate her swallowing skills and Monday they will do a scope to look down her throat to see how things look.
I'll be back to post pictues later on, gotta go eat lunch to keep us strong.
